Why ‘a girl in winter’?
A Girl in Winter is Philip Larkin’s second novel. The main character is a librarian (like Larkin himself). I’ve been working in libraries since 1999 and I got my professional library qualification in 2002. I work in the academic sector.
What is this blog about?
It started off as a knitting blog, but since it began I’ve tried cross stitch, crochet, card making and photography. Now I’m learning sewing and dressmaking. I like to try out different crafts, some of them stick and some of them don’t, but I have a lot of fun along the way.
Who writes this blog?
I’m 30-something and I live in the UK. I never thought of myself as a creative person, although I was taught to knit by my mum when I was a child. I forgot about it for many years until I decided to start knitting again in 2007. Crafting has changed my life and my aim is to get better and better at the things I do.

It’s New Year’s Day and I’m so glad I came across your blog. I have just started learning how to knit and I am making scarfs. I adore knitting and have a neighbor across the street who is teaching me and through the teaching process becoming a friend. I hope you are feeling better. Thank you for sharing your life through this blog. Take good care!

Hi, my name is Bronwyn Bowerman, I am from Melbourne Australia and I write a blog called 365 days of craft http://www.365daysofcraft.com
I just stumbled across your blog and really liked your articles.
My blog is sort of like the movie julie and julia (except with craft/not food) so the challenge for 2011 is to design and make something new everyday of this year (and i work fulltime!) yes its a massive feat (a little bigger than i first realised!) but i am almost halfway!!
I am looking for people to guest blog on monday nights and was wondering if you would like to guest blog? you could even just use the crochet craft squares project as your guest blog… let me know your thoughts. my email address is broncobowerman@hotmail.com
kind regards
