On Saturday I went with some friends to visit the public library which is hosting a knitted garden exhibit. The knitted and crocheted objects have been made by local people of all ages. In addition, the library has been hosting free knitting and crochet workshops on Saturdays, which apparently have been a big success. Here are just a few of the things I saw.

Colourful flower garlands with a knitted bird box.

Crocheted rose bush.

Honeypot beehive and bees.

Crocheted pond with water lilies – I thought the pond would be perfect as a rug or lap blanket (without the lillies).

Teeny tiny fish – you can see how small they compared to the crochet stitches

Frog by the side of the pond – I love his jaunty pose.

Scary hedgehog by the pond.

Owl (and mouse) on a pillar in the foyer.

Colourful vegetable garden.

Hanging basket – clever use of fun fur as moss in the basket.

Washing line complete with bloomers and a string vest

Finally, the exit entwined with grapes.

I had a lovely afternoon and I’m so pleased I got to see the knitted garden before the exhibit ends on 4 June. We went for coffee and a cake afterwards – a craft outing isn’t complete without cake. Hope you had a good weekend, whatever you did.
