On Monday evening, I got together with my crafting friends. We used to meet once a week as a craft group at our workplace, but unfortunately that fizzled out because we were always too busy/tired/ill. However, we try to get together once a month instead and we have a go at different crafts.
This time it was card making. One of our group (an enthusiastic paper crafter) offered to host and – as always – she made us feel very welcome. She’s an amazing cook; she made us dinner, which included the most fantastic banoffee pie ever. After that, she kept us well supplied with tea and cupcakes.
Our host had invited a Stampin’ Up demonstrator to give us a workshop after dinner. If you haven’t come across Stampin’ Up, they are a US company. They don’t sell their card making supplies online or in brick and mortar shops, but instead promote them through ‘demonstrators’ (think Tupperware parties).
So, six over-excited crafters on a sugar high gathered round a table and we watched our demonstrator make a thank you card using punches, stamping and colouring with inks and blender pens. Then we were shown a birthday card and our demonstrator talked us through how to make it. We were given card stock trimmed to the right size and let loose on ink and stamps. Here’s my card:
I’ve always been a bit wary of events where someone comes to your home to sell you things. However, there was genuinely no pressure to buy and I was very impressed with the quality of the SU products. I’d looked at the SU catalogue online in advance, so I had some ideas already about what I wanted to order. I’ll show you what I got when it arrives.
I had such a fun evening. I haven’t been able to do card making for a while, but I feel inspired to try it again after last night. Even though I’ve stamped before, I learned loads from the demonstrator. Everyone came away with a professional looking card. We laughed A LOT. I love my crafting ladies.

I love that card – much better than my usual attempts at stamping!
