This weekend, OH and I went to Oxford. We booked it ages ago, well before Christmas, because we anticipated feeling miserable in January and so wanted something to look forward to.
Our first activity on Saturday was a Bodleian Library tour which included the Divinity School, the Convocation House and Court and Duke Humfrey’s Library. We were both keen to do this, but as you can imagine it was of special interest to me (being a librarian and all) and in fact I nearly wept with jealousy when I heard the Bodleian receives 1000 books per day (it’s a deposit library) and has 9 million volumes stored underground. I was ready to apply for a job right away.
Afterwards we had a wander around, then in the afternoon we met Mooncalf and Mr Mooncalf. It’s a bit odd meeting someone when you know things about them from reading their blog, but you’ve never met them in real life. However, it was fine and we had a good time.
On Sunday, we wandered about some more. The weather was beautiful all weekend – cold, but with the bluest of blue skies and sunshine.
I took the obligatory photo of a line of bicycles
and a more unusual image of some street art.
It was really, really good to get away and escape for a short while before facing the return to work. We’re thinking of visiting Oxford again at some point because there’s loads more we’d like to see.

Aha! Taking the realm of the blogosphere in the realm of reality, I’m surprised the earth didn’t spin off its axis.
Beautiful photographs, it seems ridiculously pretty.

Lovely pictures of Oxford. (((Oxford)))
And lovely to see you and Mr De Winter. I am always a bit nervous meeting internet people. Partly because I’m quite shy about meeting new people anyway. And the mix of knowledge and ignorance is worrying. What if I get too nervous and say something stupid. The blogosphere might turn against me and I’d have to go into hiding. Best not to think about it or I’d never leave the house!
Anyway, lovely to see you – I hope you do come back!

How fun! I would love to go to Oxford one day… well, I’d love to make it to England!
It’s fun meeting other bloggers, I think. I always have fun doing it.

I went at around the same time last year – it was all snow-covered and pretty, though cooooold. I hope I can go back in warmer weather!

Oxford looks beautiful! I want to go there some day! And the library? I’m not a librarian and it still sounds wonderful and amazing!
I’ve become very good friends with people I met online and on Ravelry. I do get a little nervous before meeting someone for the first time, but I’ve been very lucky and everyone I met is wonderful
