On Saturday, OH and I went to Salisbury for a day trip. We had a very enjoyable time, although it was cold and grey. I took lots of black and white photographs, which seemed suitable for a day with all the colour drained out of it.

On Sunday, we walked through the gardens to the beach. I took more photos of lamp posts, amongst other things. I blame my childhood obsession with The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe for my continuing fascination with lamp posts (I’m still hoping Mr Tumnus will skip by one day).

It was a cold walk, so I wore my Central Park Hoodie [Rav link] out for the first time! I made it using a cone (2000m) of New Lanark Aran in ‘Pebble’. I bought it at the I Knit Weekender back in September (where I felt like a fool carrying the world’s largest cone of yarn around London). The cone was good value at £35, I think. I’ve still got about 500m left after making the hoodie. The yarn was scratchy whilst I was knitting, but it has softened up after blocking and it shows the cables beautifully.

I read on Ravelry that the ‘Central Park Hoodie’ comes up small, so I sized up and made the 44″ ( I measure 38″). I’m glad I did because the larger size fits well. I had a moment of horror and despair when it was finished where I thought I’d messed up one set of cables on the left front panel, as they weren’t lining up with the right front panel. However, my mum pointed out that I’d sewn the buttons on wrong. Durrrr! She helped me take them off and sew them on properly.

I have a horrible habit of never wearing the things I make, but the CPH is going to be an exception. It’s cosy and comfy. I can see me wearing it until it falls apart.

Thanks to my official photographer (aka OH) for taking the CPH modelling shots.
