I have a FO! I’ve been quietly working away on Anais from Kim Hargreaves’ ‘Misty’. ‘Anais’ is a cropped lace cardigan with a buttoned front and short sleeves knitted in DK cotton yarn.
The pattern uses Rowan Milk Cotton DK and so did I. I used 6 balls of ‘Water Bomb’ (a greenish-blueish shade) from my stash. I had 10 balls in total which I’d bought for a cardi project ages ago, but the cardi never got made.
I found it very soft with a nice drape, but it is splitty and there were broken plies throughout the first ball I used. However, these don’t show in the finished garment. I’m not sure I’d buy Milk Cotton again, unless it was a total bargain in a sale.
I made size L (38″) and followed the pattern with no mods. ‘Anais’ is knit in pieces and seamed. The button band is knit as part of the two front pieces and the neckband is made by picking up stitches later.
I found the pattern clear and easy to follow (as with all KH patterns which I have used). It’s not a difficult knit. The lace pattern is composed of a 4 row repeat which is easily memorised.
I confess I didn’t block the pieces before seaming as, er, I couldn’t be bothered. The simple white pearlised buttons I used are from Totally Buttons.
I had my doubts about ‘Anais’ before it was put together. I was worried it would be too cropped, particularly as I have a long torso and cardis tend to ride up around my middle if they’re not long enough. However, it fits perfectly and I’m very pleased. I can see it getting a lot of wear over the summer.
Thanks to OH for indulging my request for an impromptu photo shoot in a graveyard. He accepts my weird suggestions with good humour. I like wandering around old graveyards, actually, I find it a strangely calming experience.

Awww, that’s really pretty. I love the colour and it really matches your dress. I’d love to borrow the whole outfit for a wedding I’ve got coming up! I must investigate Kim Hargreaves a bit more.
The angel in the graveyard reminds me of a recent episode of Dr Who, spooky.

I have just bought some Rowan Milk Cotton in the John Lewis sale. It was a total bargain so I am quite pleased. I will definitely use it for this. It looks really lovely. I love the colour too.

There is no greater prize than a man who just nods and says “of course” to every crafty/arty whim we have. It was worth it as the photoshoot is great.

This just looks completely lovely, and I think the color suits you so much. My Kim Hargreaves patterns have been collecting dust, but I think it’s time to get to work on something.

Its a great place to have a photo shoot, all the photographers around here use graveyards exclusively for things like senior year photos. Great cardigan, great color!

A very cute little cardi, and it works so well with your dress. I’ve seen that pattern but kind of wrote it off as something that wouldn’t look good on me – might have to reconsider now. It’s so good seeing FOs on “real” people and not models!
I also love graveyards, especially very, very old ones.
