OH’s poorly foot is much improved and I’ve finished his socks. I based them on the gusset heel basic sock pattern from Wendy D. Johnson’s ‘Socks From The Toe Up‘.
For each sock, I used the Turkish cast on for the toe and knitted the foot until it was two inches shorter than the total length of OH’s foot. I did a gusset heel and then knitted the leg of each sock with 1″ of 2×2 rib at the cuff. I cast off using Jeny’s surprisingly stretchy bind off (once again).

Stripy!
I didn’t quite get the stripes to match on both socks, but OH says he doesn’t mind. He graciously agreed to model them for the photo, above. He tells me the socks are a good fit and very cosy.
